Restaurants

There are so many restaurants on the island of Caye Caulker. All serve great tasting food. We have never had a bad experience anywhere. Here are some of our favorites

Amor Y Cafe is a quaint little breakfast place owned and operated by Mika who is originally from Holland.  She has become one of our many "local" friends.  She has been here for over ten years and just loves it. Caye Caulker is now home, she says. She named it "Amor Y Cafe" for the love of coffee. The restaurant is located on front street and serves home-made yogurt  breads, fruits, eggs and will also make sandwiches for those going on excursions or just needing a snack or lunch when leaving the island. Stop by for friendly service and lots of smiles.

Rose's Grill is an excellent place for seafood grilled right at roadside. You meet the cook right at the entrance and at the grill, and select your entree from choices of lobster, shrimp skewers, grouper and snapper. Then you get seated at one of the many picnic tables and order your drinks and side dishes. The staff is very friendly as are all Belizeans, and the manager Kim, another good friend of ours is always a joy to see.  The food is superb with a fantastic presentation, very photo-worthy so make sure you bring your camera.  If you are only on the island for one night make sure this is your place to eat.  Meals start at $30 BZ, which for lobster is only $15USD...sweet deal!

Sandros is an excellent Italian owned and operated, truly authentic Italian restaurant. Owned by Sandro and he is the Chef as well.  Happily creating delicious pasta dishes in his marvellous first-class open kitchen. You enter at the kitchen and walk through to a beautiful garden style dining area. The food is incredible!! We had a very in-depth conversation with him at Caye Caulker water taxi in Belize City one day while waiting to return the island. He is originally from Carpi, Italy and brings his love of Italian dishes to the toursits of Caye Caulker.  You can read all about him and his journey here:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-caroline-cicero/sandros-piccola-cucina-belize_b_2481648.html

Wish Willy's is an adventure into the great hospitality of Belizeans that  all visitors to the caye need to experience. This open yard dining and home cooked food is laid-back living at it's finest. Maurice greets all his dining guests and his friendly staff (friends & family) serve good food, smiles and laughter. Prices are very reasonable, so reasonable he doesn't really need to post them, but don't be afraid to ask,as  you will be pleasantly surprised. It's an outdoor back-yard ambience that has it's own feel at anight and a completely different feel at breakfast. Good deals, good times, always!!  check it out: http://wish-willy.com/
