So we were staying in Caye Caulker, the weather was absolutely fantastic if you like hot, humid and a little wind. Suntanning almost everyday and walking everywhere, the island is only 5 miles long. We decided to try a few excursions, and first on the list was snorkelling with the stingrays and nurse sharks. We booked our tour with Raggamuffin Tours, very popular tour company located right on Front Street. I was terrified. Jump off a perfectly good boat into a sea full of creatures like stingrays and sharks...are you crazy??
Well I did it, and it really wasn't all that bad. The famous Shark Ray Alley as they called it, is out by the reef. We then did some snorkelling at Hol Chan Marine Reserve and saw coral, many fish, stingrays, and a moray eel. Oh that thing was ugly and mean looking and scared me like crazy, so back to the boat I went. Once everyone was done, we had a nice leisurely sail back to Caye Caullker, complete with ceviche and rum punch and juice.
It was a full day of being in the water, on the sailboat and just enjoying the water nature as well as the fabulous perfect sunny day. I highly recommend doing this tour. You may also get a chance to see turtles, as Randy did on his first snorkel trip with his sister.
